Speaking until he can no longer stand: Ted Cruz throws down the gauntlet on ObamaCare

The first shots in the last stand against ObamaCare have been fired:

Senator Ted Cruz has fulfilled his election promise to do everything it takes to stop Obamacare.  To that end, he has commenced a talking filibuster against the budget CR, which Harry Reid plans to use as a conduit for reinserting funding to Obamacare.

This is real simple.  We are at the end of the line.  Anyone who thinks that, under the false hope of winning back the White House and the Senate in 2-6 years from now, we will somehow get rid of Obamacare is lying to you.  They refuse to admit that the only way to stop it is now, and the only means of stopping it is by refusing to pass anything other than the House CR.

All of the Democrats plan to vote for cloture.  Once they cross that hurdle, they will be able to reinsert funding for Obamacare on a party-line vote, send it back to the House, and gain leverage over conservatives in the only body controlled by Republicans.  Democrats know this; Republicans know this.  Yet, Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, and all the establishment senators who have been selling us out for years are voting for cloture.  Worse, they are dishonestly messaging it as supporting the House CR, relying on semantics over substance.

Once the cloture vote passes and Reid reinserts funding, these same finger lickin’ frauds will run around touting their opposition to Obamacare, knowing that their vote is meaningless; knowing that Obamacare funding will be sent back to the House; knowing that we will never get rid of this law.  They are actually trying to rush the vote to “give the House more time” to deal with the pressure they are now helping Reid foist upon them.

This is not just a conservative issue; this is an American issue The law is unworkable and illogical even from the vantage point of those who support a larger federal government.  Looking at it broadly, Obamacare is destroying jobs and small businesses, chasing doctors out of medicine, raising insurance premiums by as much as 300%, placing onerous tax burdens on individuals and job-creators, leading to rationing of care, and involving the federal government in every aspect of the doctor-patient relationship.  And that is all before the law is fully functioning.

Again, there is no other recourse.  The law will not die on its own, and Republicans will never be able to win enough political power in time to get rid of it without forcing a full assault confrontation.  It’s a question of whether we want to subject our children and grandchildren to an America that is foreign to everything we’ve come to love about this country.  It is a question of whether we want to outsource our health to the federal government in an unworkable scheme designed to cement the political power of one party.

This is a hill to die on.  It’s time for all of us to Stand With Ted and #MakeDCListen.

Like Jimmy Stewart in ‘Mr Smith Goes To Washington,’  Ted Cruz is literally standing alone, on behalf of the people outside of the beltway, for what is right.  He’s being mocked by Republican staffers.  Our senior senator thinks Cruz’s strategy is “the dumbest idea” he’s ever heard.  Our junior — soon to be unemployed — senator thinks we’ll grow to love ObamaCare once we take time to learn more about it.

This is a milestone moment in our country’s history.  Folks will look back on this time as either (a) the beginning of America’s irreversible decline, or (b) the point where average Americans decided they’ve had enough.  It’s up to US to determine which option comes to fruition. Get on the phones and CALL:  Richard Burr (202) 224-3154, Kay Hagan (202)224-6342, Lindsey Graham (202-224-5972) and Tim Scott (202) 224-6121.

Tell them they need to take to the floor in support of Senator Cruz.  Tell them we NEED A NO VOTE on cloture.  THERE SHOULD BE NO VOTE ON ANYTHING BUT THE HOUSE-PASSED CONTINUING RESOLUTION.
