Lefty churches panic over illegal alien roundups
Some of the most radical leftist activist groups in the nation – currently masquerading as churches — are beside themselves over Trump administration plans to round up illegals:
Three North Carolina faith groups representing 20 denominations and thousands of congregations have sued the Trump administration, saying its decision to send immigration agents into churches and synagogues violates their Constitutional right to religious freedom.
The N.C. Council of Churches, based in Raleigh and representing more than 6,000 churches and synagogues across the state; the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, based in Charlotte and representing 1,600 congregations across the country; and the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, based in Huntersville and representing more than 600 churches in the western half of the state; filed the suit Tuesday in federal district court in the District of Columbia along with two dozen other U.S. faith groups. […]
The North Carolina Council of Churches has yet to find a Marxist cause it can’t support. It’s been a dependable cheerleader for radical leftist causes for as long as I can remember.
The AME Zion church has long been a dependable mouthpiece for the Democrats. And we all know about the United Methodist Church. They’ve been known to punish pastors who dare to declare marriage is between a man and a woman. The UMC has also been known to underwrite and support protests against our troops while in the field of battle. They’ve been known to send aid to the folks American troops happen to be fighting.
Unitarian, Catholic and Episcopal churches are also among the hopelessly woke.
Many of these folks can’t seem to understand the shrinking of their congregations and the simultaneous growth in non-denominational or interdenominational congregations. People are running away from leftist political indoctrination and toward more straight, honest-to-goodness, old-time gospel.
If you attend church with one of the big denominations, this stuff is exemplary of what you’re funding when you drop your hard-earned cash in the plate on Sunday.

[…]The suit asks the court to stop the Department of Homeland Security, its agents or anyone working with them from acting on an agency directive of Jan. 21, 2025. The directive rescinded a longstanding policy limiting immigration enforcement in or near “sensitive areas” such as schools and churches.
In the past, immigration enforcement officers would only arrest undocumented people at schools and churches under exigent circumstances or on specific orders. The Trump administration said the policy had thwarted law enforcement and that it was being rescinded so that, “Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to avoid arrest.”
According to news reports, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers then went to a church in Georgia during a worship service and arrested a Honduran man wearing an ankle monitor while awaiting a hearing on his asylum request. The lawsuit says the man had attended all of his required check-ins with ICE in Atlanta, but was told by the arresting agents they were simply “looking for people with ankle bracelets.”
Faith leaders from several of the plaintiff groups in the suit held an online press conference Tuesday and said the threat of people being arrested at churches and synagogues has made it impossible for congregations to follow one of the central tenets of their faith: welcoming and serving immigrants.[…]
Welcoming and serving immigrants? If you came to this country by swimming the Rio Grande or by hiding in an 18-wheeler’s trailer, you are not an immigrant. You are a trespasser.
Immigrants play by the rules, follow the law, and make an attempt to assimilate into and contribute to the community they settle in. That’s not what anyone’s talking about here.
Allowing illegals to hide in churches and schools is disgraceful. It’s a collective nose-thumbing at people who strive to follow the law and make their communities, states, and country the best they can be.
The people pushing this are all Jeff Jackson and Josh Stein ‘s comrades. Those two need to decide whether they are serving all of North Carolina or just the Chapel Hill-Carrboro hammer-and-sickel crowd.
These “Council of Churches” organizations have always been fronts for the far left. If they were honest, they would call themselves “Councils of Marxists”. I remember during the Cold War, one of the leaders of the World Council of Churches was the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church based in Moscow. It was well known that this Partriarch also simultaneously held the rank of Major General in the Soviet KGB.
The Councils of Churches are eaten up with the “social gospel” which more honestly should be called the socialIST gospel, and “liberation theology”. When it comes to illegal aliens, they also have another huge conflict of interest. Many of them have their snouts in the pig trough of money that Biden diverted from agencies like FEMA and the VA to subsidize illegal aliens.
Some of their member churches have become little more than fronts for left wing politics. The United Methodist Church is a good example. Many of their congregations, who are not hard core leftists have been fleeing to the new non-political Global Methodist Church. Many major Methodist churches in eastern North Carolina have made that switch. Only those who thrive on far left politics are happy in today’s United Methodist Church. https://globalmethodist.org/
Good analysis. Why would any conservative belong to a United Methodist Church or any church affiliated with the National Council of Churches.?
Nationwide, Catholic bishops made lots of money with their established protocols for “migrants” that have been in place for years. Catholic Charities provided assistance with housing, medical attention (Medicaid), school registration, food stamps. and some orientation to the communities where the newcomer’s chose to live. Catholic charities, for the past several years have provided flights to various parts of the country for the “migrants”. Overall, the amount of money given to Catholic Charities have served to provide many bishops a very luxurious lifestyle. Currently, Catholics are being asked to give to “Bishops Annual Appeals.” There is no mention of monies received by the for the “migrants”. Smells like a big rat to me.
