Flowers are blooming. Temperatures rising. Berger Team? (*Back in Court.*)

A lawsuit that had its origins in Rockingham County may now have seismic consequences for state Republican politics.  A former Rockingham County commissioner — and critic of casinos and other Berger spawned shenanigans — has filed suit against several key players in the Phil Berger political machine for their alleged activities in the 2024 GOP primary in that county.

The defendants in this matter attempted to get Tim Moore‘s BFF installed as the presiding judge.  THAT idea was quickly and forcefully swatted away.

Now, it appears defendant GOPACwhich counts senator Phil Berger as one of its board members — has been seeking its removal from the case.  Here’s what the plaintiff’s attorneys have to say about that idea.

Here is a filing on behalf of defendants Kevin Berger (Rockingham County commissioner and the senator’s son), Diane Parnell (Rockingham County GOP chairman), Donald Powell, and Mark Richardson seeking their removal from the case.

In case you haven’t heard, the 2026 GOP primary is already big news in Rockingham County.  Longtime county sheriff Sam Page has announced a challenge to the renomination of state senator Phil Berger.
