Even More Page-Berger aftershocks, fallout
For the Berger machine, Rockingham County keeps delivering the hits. Not only did senator Phil Berger – the capo di tutti – come up short at the end of Tuesday, but SO DID Berger’s henchman and close ally in the House, Rep. Reece Pyrtle:
Let’s not forget the primary for the Rockingham County Board of Commissioners primary. That body is – for now – chaired by the senator’s son Kevin Berger.
Now, let’s look at what happened Tuesday:
That’s right. The vice-chairman and one other commissioner — both Berger loyalists — were voted out and replaced with candidates favored by Sam Page loyalists.
If this holds, Kevin Berger will likely go from being chairman of the board to sitting on the *wrong* side of a 3-2 split.
Talk about a trickle-down effect.
The *survivors* in Raleigh ought to be studying this carefully and absorbing the lesson here. But knowing that bunch — they won’t.

Berger should be so ashamed — he lost his home county by a 2:1 margin. He has to depend upon votes from Guilford to save his skin, and it is not likely that it will happen. It is sad. Once a good conservative, he got drunk with power and dynasty-building. Lord Acton is smiling — “I told you so.”
