Ed Martin Thells on Thom
You may remember Ed Martin as Donald Trump‘s choice for US attorney for The District of Columbia. Senator Thom Tillis gained some national notoriety for single-handedly derailing Martin’s confirmation into that job.
President Trump ended up pulling Martin’s nomination for that job and putting him into a new role at the US Department of Justice working on more of the same stuff he’d been working on. Recently, Martin sat down with Tucker Carlson for an interview where he offered up his side of the story on his confirmation fight.
Martin said that — right up until the confirmation fight over the US attorney post — he and senator Tillis had a good working relationship:
[…] “So, then I met with him for 90 minutes and he railed on J6. He said how could you represent those J6 people? How stupid do people have to be to go into The Capitol and blah blah blah. I said, sir, — look, and I looked at this closely. It feels like you’re not quite paying attention to what happened.”[…]
In case you need a refresher on Thom and J6, here you go.
Tillis protégè Michael Whatley has somehow made it into the Trump inner circle in DC. Here HE is bragging to a leftist reporter about being the first party chairman to condemn the J6 protesters.
Quite a bit of footage contradicting the drive-by media and Democrat Party’s story on the events of that day has emerged. We’ve seen footage of cops opening doors to The Capitol and encouraging people to enter.
We’ve seen footage of an unarmed female protester shot to death at close-range by a Capitol police officer. (That same officer later got a promotion and commendations from Republican and Democrat politicians.) We’ve seen a female officer beat to death an unconscious protester just outside the doors to The Capitol.
We’ve seen footage of cops laughing about using protesters as target practice — and then firing concussion grenades directly at them. (Two male protesters died from cardiac arrest after taking a direct hit from a concussion grenade.). We also saw one male protester knocked off of a top-level mezzanine by police. (Reports later indicated he died from his injuries.)
Martin described the version of events trumpeted by drive-bys and establishment media as a hoax:
“[…Tillis said] ‘Anyone who’s dumb enough to go into The Capitol needs to be charged with everything under the sun.’ […] I think if you’re not under the spell of the hoax then you say: ‘Wait a second. Lots of people were waved into The Capitol. Maybe you can charge them with trespass, but you can’t throw them in jail for three, three and a half, four years.[…]
People who did little more than stand on The Capitol steps had their homes raided by SWAT teams and were throw in jail for years.
Martin pointed out that the charge used against so many J6 protesters — 1512 — was thrown out by The Supreme Court. During his first weeks in office as acting US attorney, Martin said he researched the origins of the 1512 charge. According to Martin, it was cooked up directly by and from Attorney General Merrick Garland and his deputy Lisa Monaco. Martin said they took an existing charge, obstruction of official proceedings, and expanded it to specifically include The Electoral College and the official canvass of the presidential election.

Also, HERE.
It was Lara Trump, who pulled Whatley into the national position. I was shocked because Whatley was famous for saying, NC is turning purple so accept it, may not be exact quote but close. For those who want Lara Trump for NC senator, I do not believe she is an NC resident.
I despise Tillis for too many reasons to list here, but he epitomizes what is wrong with the Republican party and with politics in general. I have had conversations with some who wish to turn a blind eye to all of Tillis’s misgivings and outright betrayal of the Republican Party platform in North Carolina. To quote one person, I’d rather have an 80% Tillis regarding the American First policy than a Cooper as Senator. At what point do we stop being held hostage in this manner? As North Carolinians, we can do way better. There is no convincing me that there isn’t an American First candidate who will give integrity more than lip service.
Tillis is unelectable. If he is at the top of the ticket in 2026, he will poison other races. If we are going to elect judges, legislators, etc., we simply HAVE to replace Tillis as nominee.
As to Michael Whatley, he failed Donald Trump again by not jerking Tillis’ chain on the Martin appointment.. Whatley was MIA on that fiasco as he is on so much. Whaley is Tillis’ man and Jason Simmons is Whatley’s man.
One of the most unsettling rumors I have heard is the possibility of Tillis leaving the race (that part would be good) but then trying to pass the nomination to Whatley, who is as awful as Tillis.
NC will BECOME a BLUE statement NOT purple UNLESS there’s a meeting of the minds between the numerous factions on NC.
We’ve lost the COS and unsure we get back control in 2028. NC Gen Assembly and leadership are peachy keen cause they still hold power. They care less about grassroots and will support Tillis 100%, Whatley, Simmons, Berger, et als. THEY WON”T BUDGE. They will lose seat to cooper and not blink an eye. They lost the entire COS and have yet to show one worry or concern.
Grassroots in NC have had it 100% with these shenanigans. Won’t occur in 2026 be electing Tillis. May get out of primary but coop will mop him up.
I don’t see anyone (s) pulling NC together. Factions are so wide apart and have no shared interest in party, candidates or leadership.
You’re right. Big out-of-state PACs will step in to elect RINOs in primaries, so unless conservatives unite that’s who we will get stuck with as Republicans candidates in the general. GOPAC boosted Tillis, Moore, and the Berger clan, but it spent millions opposing Pat Harrigan. Harrigan is a true conservative and the only NC Congressional rep who isn’t bought and paid for by dark money and special interests.
GOPAC is also tied to the “Green Energy” grifters. They are special interest whores.
