ECU, what the hell?
East Carolina University has been quite an asset for our state’s eastern coast. There’s been a lot of great work on campus, and its alumni have gone out in the world to make many great contributions. That’s what makes some of the recent reports about far-left antics at its medical school even more troubling.
Just prior to the 2022 election, we learned about the university’s Brody School of Medicine opening a LGBTQ+ clinic. Evidence mounted that the clinic and other med school sources were marketing sex change procedures to children as young as FOUR. Despite this news, area legislators and drive-by media don’t have a whole lot to say.
Now, we’re learning – thanks to the warrior princesses at Education First NC — that ECU’s School of Medicine is mandating that its students and staff go through some “reproductive justice” indoctrination:
[…] East Carolina School of Medicine is forcing employees and students to take radical “reproductive justice and Transgender liberation” lessons that claim limiting abortions “serves to further a white supremacist agenda,” and promote LGBTQ curriculum in public schools.
Social justice lessons are mandatory for staff at ECU’s pediatric and internal medicine clinic
Lessons say society’s “marriage imperative” works against black women and discriminates against LGBT people.
The lessons promote comprehensive sex education for K-12 and government-funded abortion on demand for black women.
ECU’s new “gender” clinic for kids 4 and up is led by Associate Director for Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Dr. Colby Dendy. Dendy is also a Diversity Equity and Inclusiveness (DEI) trainer at the school, teaching lessons about the Christian Right’s agenda to oppress black women by opposing abortion.
In the course, participants learn that the most visceral struggle for low-income black women is “reproductive autonomy,” which revolves around government-paid abortions and free over-the-counter birth control pills. From the learning material:
“Women of color understand how policies controlling welfare, access to contraceptives and other family planning services, abortion access, the war on drugs and the criminalization of women of color who use drugs, largely Black women, serve to further a white supremacist agenda that is still very much intent upon controlling the childbearing of Black women and other women of color.”
Black women can only “achieve social, political, and economic parity with whites, and full human rights” after being guaranteed unfettered access to free abortions.
Paradoxically, a section in the training says participants should “challenge eugenic agendas prescribing who is ‘fit’ and ‘unfit’ to reproduce or be reproduced.”
Do the doctors leading this training at ECU know anything about eugenics? In North Carolina, almost 7,600 people were forcibly sterilized over four decades – most of them low-income black people. Although sterilization isn’t abortion, the result is the same: no children are born.
Besides black women, children are also targeted by the training.
The presentation repeatedly discusses the need for “comprehensive sex education” in K-12 schools as a “right” of black girls and to further “LGBTQ Liberation.” Comprehensive sex education focuses on teaching children of all grades the “identities”, behaviors, and experiences of homosexuals and transgenders.
Know about the books depicting homosexual sex in school libraries across North Carolina? That’s teaching “porn literacy” and it’s a central part of comprehensive sex education.
Could ECU’s training, led by child sterilizer Colby Dendy, be meant to create salespeople for its pediatric sex change clinic? Seems probable. ECU offers similar training that encourages K-12 teachers to openly discuss sexuality with children and to refer “questioning” children to its new child sex change clinic. The“Safe Zone” training is marketed around Eastern North Carolina.
ECU is the latest example of medical schools putting Marxist ideologies before sound education and responsible patient care.[…]
Jon Hardister, who is running for Labor Secretary, has been Chair of Higher Ed committee for several years. Same with PotFirst Mike Lee. They have sat back on their asses and let this contagion infect every crevice of the UNC system. Their ineptitude should disqualify both of them from their current and future offices (and anyone who supports Hardister for Labor should be categorically dismissed).
The uniparty is pro minor chemical castration.
Hardister, Lee, and the entire GOP legislature have been appointing clueless RINOs to the UNC Board of Governors and UNC trustee boards for years. Their appointees could care less about this leftist indoctrination and, in fact, probably agree with most of it. I am not at all surprised with what has happened at ECU under Republican control.
P.S. The name, PotFirst Mike Lee, is most appropriate. Our state is going to pay a horrible price down the road for his support of marijuana use.
This far left political indoctrination in medical school is just like what was done with medical students in the old Soviet Union. It is disgusting and needs to be prohibited. How about a special provision in this year’s state budget to prohibit political indoctrination in state universities including medical schools? DEI is nothing but an updated version of Marxism.
Who is PotFirst Mike Lee?
Senator Michael Lee. Pushing for medical pot while doing SQUAT to stop anti-White hate/DEE in UNC system as Senate Higher Ed Chair. Also, voted for Medicaid expansion, pushing for sports betting, shilled for the green new deal… In other words, doing NOTHING that he promised on the campaign trail and EVERYTHING possible to screw you, ass kiss Roy/Tim/Phil uniparty. A total fraud.
I am old enough to remember the effort to get a med school for ECU. My husband was a Jaycee and members of that organization went door to door in Eastern NC to get grass roots folks to support the Med School. Their efforts were rewarded. ECU finally had a med school to provide physicians educated to serve the needs of the largely rural population of eastern NC. After all, NC had three med schools already but they were (are) located in the more populous area of the state. The School of Medicine has gone from a place where physicians were first educated to serve EASTERN NC, ECU is now a huge asset to our area. Unfortunately they have lost their focus…the $$$$ are now emphasized. No longer are the needs of Eastern NC considered. Genital mutilation (changing from one gender to the other) has become the golden calf if medicine in 2023! The fact is genital mutilation is abhorrent to most of the residents of Eastern NC. We are a Bible reading, Christian, generally conservative population. The the fact that ECU is collaborating with the School of Education (Haymaker, September 2022) makes it worse. .Local media sources have not made any comments to bring awareness to us…part of the huge Medicaid expansion will likely go to finance the fiasco. Incidentally, Haymaker has also informed its readers that two of the elected representatives are closely associated with ECU. Both practice medicine in Greenville. One in the US Congress ( GregMurphy ) is a urologist, the other (name not remembered) is a physician employed by the hospital.
