Candidate gets *Nagied*, but punches back.
Getting *Nagied* is what too often happens to local pols here in Moore County who
disagree with the Marxist leanings of the county’s barely-readable, money-bleeding daily newspaper, Pravda-on-Pennsylvania.
The Nagification process gets started when you get on the bad side of managing editor John Nagy (and sometimes his bride). An unsigned editorial with quite a smattering of half-truths and complete falsehoods will ooze out onto the paper’s website and in the print edition smacking you around. We’ve asked nicely about someone having the guts to sign their name to these diatribes. But it’s looking like guts to do something like that are non-existent over on West Pennsylvania Avenue.
The latest unsigned cheap shot on the op-ed page came in the form of an endorsement article for a soon-to-be vacant county commissioner seat.
Quite a few candidates travel to Pravda’s newsroom, hat-in-hand and on bended knee, seeking Comrade Nagy’s blessing. Never mind that the power of an endorsement from Pravda drops off dramatically once you travel about ten blocks from the paper’s offices.
Cameron Dockery, the current mayor of Robbins, and Robbins resident Curtis Self are competing in the Republican primary to fill the county board seat in question. Dockery showed up to grovel before Nagy. Self did not.
So, what did Nagy do? He endorsed Dockery for simply showing up. Nagy -in his unsigned rant – took time to swipe at Self for refusing to appear before him and grovel.
In his defense of Dockery, Nagy made the mayor sound like some kind of master statesman. Never mind that the typical Robbins town council / mayor race averages about two dozen voters. (It’s harder to get elected president of the student body at North Moore High School.) And like with most town councils, the mayor doesn’t vote.
Self, not to be outdone, took to Facebook to respond to Nagy’s unsigned swipe at him:
Early voting is underway. You can also show up on Tuesday March 3 to choose between Mr. Self and mayor Dockery.
