3rd congressional district GOP demands disloyalty charge against senator Berger
It appears state senator Phil Berger — president pro tem of the state senate and self-proclaimed leader of the NCGOP — is facing an accusation of party disloyalty by some of the troops:
Berger is currently locked up in the primary fight of his life against Rockingham County sheriff Sam Page.
It also appears that some of the “chickens” stirred up by the heavy-handed tactics Berger and his staff regularly employ against fellow Republicans are coming home to roost.
That resolution passed unanimously. I was present at the meeting, which was the district’s annual picnic at Rep. Keith Kidwell’s house. I think it shows that grassroots party activists have had a bellyfull of both Berger’s brazen party disloyalty and his penchant for doing last minute cramdowns of liberal legislation, the repeal of our bathroom privacy law, HB2, being an early one and Shrimpgate being the most recent. There have been other significant ones in between like NC’s Green New Deal, HB951 as it was totally rewritten in the Senate at the last minute..
This district resolution started out as simply a resolution demanding that the NCGOP quit stalling on bringing similar charges against Berger by multiple counties in front of the NCGOP state executive committee for adjudication. While I am not on the district resolutions committee, I am told that the committee insisted it be toughened by adding even stronger language and that was done. The resolution now makes the 3rd district one of the party committees challenging Berger.
County resolutions, beginning with Duplin County GOP’s resolution charging Berger have been gathering dust at NCGOP since early in the year. When I raised the issue at the June executive committee meeting, Jason Simmons responded by misrepresenting the Plan of Organization provision on the issue. I pointed out to him that I was the one who wrote that provision during one of my stings on the PoO committee and his misinterpretation of it was just wrong. He asked me to put its background in a letter and he would make that the first item of business for the new General Counsel. I did so and I am still waiting for a response. I did find out that it was sent to the NCGOP’s in-house staff counsel instead of the elected General Counsel, as I had several exchanges of emails with him, and talked to him face to face two months ago. At that time, he told me he had a meeting coming up that week with Jason Simmons where he would bring it up and get back to me. I have still not heard anything.
It is time for Jason Simmons to quit stalling and protecting Berger from his misdeeds. This item needs to be on the agenda at the next ExCom meeting or at a special meeting for that purpose earlier. It needs to be heard.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is the state of the nc gop and it didn’t JUST GET THAT WAY.
It’s why many have left the party; conservatives, I mean. Many conservatives are no longer in the nc gop b/c of the shenanigans party officials pull ALL THE TIME.
It’s why coop will walk into the US Senate and that’s horrid for NC b/c it means he NEVER paid for HIS DEEDS during covid in this state. Coop and darling Mandy DESTROYED this state schools, education grade level performances, small biz, numerous retail businesses, health care and on and on…while coop marched maskless w/ BLM in Raleigh.
Murphy in the east is yet another example of national represenation parading as a conservative yet to not know one iota about conservatism once elected. Tillis is the kingpin for certain and now we face having whatley to defend or allow coop to walk in.
OUR nc gop JUST LOST us the entire top of the state council of state.
SHUDDER this organization and take the nc gop back, county by county, region by region.
And furthermore, MANY of these same tactics have infiltrated our local/county politics, county commission and education bds. Mr. Radar can certainly attest to just that in his county.
It’s. About. Time.
Now we see if the NC Republican Party’s Executive Committee has smaller balls than the female party officers that run the 3rd District’s Executive committee; Perhaps they have jelly spines. We will see shortly.
With rumors swirling of closed door meetings filled with threats demanding gambling, pot being pushed, threatening herdshares and shrimpers, it’s high time consequences happen. too many grown men (aka senators) kowtowing at king berger’s feet betraying their voters’ trust, scared they won’t get re-elected. Sorry state of affairs our nc senate is in for the most part. it’s time for the party to redeem itself and do what’s right without delay on this one.
