NCGOP’s Whatley earns his party wrong kind of national attention
NCGOP chairman Michael Whatley spoke at an in-state election integrity event Saturday. (Yes, there is videotape.). Fortunately, the nationally-renowned Gateway Pundit blog had eyes and ears on the ground:
[…]Whatley is a GOP insider who told North Carolinians to disregard President Trump’s endorsement of Rep. Ted Budd for US Senate two days after Trump’s endorsement.
Whatley is also unconcerned over the accusations of voter fraud in the state and does not support a forensic audit.
Another imposter. On Saturday Whatley was booed and heckled when he spoke briefly at an election integrity event.
Republican voters are tired of the worthless leadership in the party and in Congress.
From Kate:
On Saturday, September 18th, GOP Chairman Michael Whatley showed up and spoke briefly at an election integrity event. This was the second day following the detailed data presentation from Seth Keshel, who initially started working on the election integrity issues with General Flynn. They had had three events in North Carolina laying out the compelling trends data. While President Trump did win the state of North Carolina, most conservative Republicans are certain it was much higher than the official data shows. In fact, Seth Keshel’s data shows President Trump likely won by 250,000 more votes than officially recorded. Further, based on this data, most conservative Republicans also do not believe that Governor Roy Cooper was legitimately re-elected.
For these reasons, citizens are demanding a forensic audit like in Arizona. To date, efforts to launch an audit have been stymied by Republicans in the State Legislature as well as party officials. Chairman Whatley “road President Trump’s coattails” in order to gain re-election as the party chair and citizens are not happy the GOP wants to dismiss it and “move on to 2022.”
Therefore, when he showed up to speak and had the audacity to claim that “we” (meaning “they the party”) had done an excellent job in 2020 that “we” should be proud of that will carry us forward in 2022, the crowd began to loudly boo and essentially drove him off the stage. There had been three previous days of events clearly showing election issues in North Carolina that he wasn’t aware of? Shame on him if he didn’t have someone attending and taking notes.
Friendly sources from within the Raleigh belt line tell me that Whatley has been passionately fighting an election audit for some time now. This was the first time, they say, that they can remember him taking it public.
Interesting. Whatley made a HUGE deal of his ties to President Trump’s campaign in order to win the state party chairmanship. Now, here he is, apparently putting a lot of energy into killing off a major project of the Trump organization.
Perhaps, he’s trying to score points with the Tillis / Meck Mob crowd who are pretty openly trying to take over the NCGOP and water it down.
I remember a former Chairman of my county GOP talking about how when Whatley was running for his first term, the Chairman of Gaston county GOP called him up to lobby for his vote for Whatley. He asked the Gaston county guy if he had any idea what electing a swamp creature would do to our Party. The Gaston guy gave some lame excuse about since Whatley was from Gaston, he felt obligated to stump for him. That said, since Whatley won that election with something like less than 50% of the delegates present, one can understand why he’s no zealot to combat election fraud. Apparently, the RNC doesn’t see it that way.
Whatley is well known to have ambitions for office in the RNC, and it is the RINOs there he seems to be playing to, instead of the rank and file GOP activists here in North Carolina. This arrogant and out of touch statement is an indication that he is through running for party office here in NC and is pursuing his personal ambitions nationally.
I believe that Whatley should resign. He’s disgraceful. You may be right about higher aspirations, but isn’t the way to achieve that and he’s probably lost that chance now.
I was there. It was actually worse because only a small portion was caught on video (amateur that is). The organizers filmed the entire event, so they have his full remarks. He was booed and yelled at for several minutes once he was stupid enough to claim we had a non-fraudulent election. Mind you, we had spent the prior evening presented with historical trends data, registration data and more. It’s abundantly clear a number of races may have been stolen. They had been in Raleigh and Charlotte the prior two days. He had the opportunity to know.
He left the stage clearly shaken and leaned against a fence, often with his head down for a little while. Then, he quietly left. Those who put on the event said it was not what he told them he would be discussing. (They didn’t say that publicly).
The RNC thinks that he defeated the forces of election fraud in North Carolina, so he’s become their golden child. That’s why he has a vested interest in maintaining the narrative that “he” kept the elections clean in NC.
Pray that he we will be replaced. God answers prayers
The RINOs control the NC GOP. The conservative grass roots win the elections and the RINOs reap the rewards. Whatley is the RINO trojan horse in the NC GOP. That’s been obvious for years. I am constantly amazed at how gullible the typical NC conservative is when it comes to electing GOP leadership.
