Allah Akbar, y’all!
JihadWatch, a site aimed at calling out Islamic extremists here and abroad, is highlighting a rather disturbing story out of Pitt County:
“We discovered that the vocabulary lesson was taken directly from a state-adopted supplemental workbook published by Holt, Rinehart, and Winston.” This kind of thing is happening all over the country — partly because national textbook companies are promoting this proselytizing material. When questioned about it, school officials say it comes from the state, and that they can’t do anything about it. But more and more parents are catching on now, and this clandestine proselytizing is being exposed.
“New Details: Viral video alleges Pitt Co. high school promoting Islam,” WNCT, December 19, 2014:
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Pitt County Schools has responded to a viral video that alleges a Farmville Central lesson plan is promoting Mohamad and Islam.
The video, created by Dianne Lynn Savage, asserts that the plan is a vocabulary lesson for the eastern North Carolina high school. In it, Savage urges the audience to share the video as widely as possible and to not ‘just sit back and allow this’.
Brock Letchworth, the spokesperson for Pitt County Schools, said Friday afternoon that school officials looked into the matter and released the following statement about the lesson plan, “Late last night, it was brought to our attention that there were questions about a vocabulary assignment in a senior English class at Farmville Central High School. The course is designed to accompany the world literature text, which emphasizes culture in literature.
Concerns expressed to us were related to the religious nature of sentences providing vocabulary words in context. After an investigation, we discovered that the vocabulary lesson was taken directly from a state-adopted supplemental workbook published by Holt, Rinehart, and Winston. This workbook includes a series of weekly vocabulary lessons, and the lessons are used to teach vocabulary in context. Lessons are divided into a trio of topics including expression, civilization, and the environment. This particular lesson was pulled from the civilization section of the workbook.
Our school system understands all concerns related to proselytizing, and there is no place for it in our instruction. However, this particular lesson was one of many the students in the class have had and will have that expose them to the various religions and how they shape cultures throughout the world.
The vocabulary lessons apply to the following Common Core Standards for English Language Arts:
CCSSELA-Literacy.L11-12.4.A: Use context (e.g., the overall meaning of a sentence, paragraph, or text; a word’s position or function in a sentence) as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase.CCSSELA-Literacy.L11-12.4.D: Verify the preliminary determination of the meaning of a word or phrase (e.g., by checking the inferred meaning in context or in a dictionary).
CCSSELA-Literacy.L11-12.6: Acquire and use accurately general academic and domain-specific words and phrases, sufficient for reading, writing, speaking, and listening at the college and career readiness level; demonstrate independence in gathering vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression. The Farmville Police Department also commented on the video Friday saying, “I want to let everyone know that I have seen the video post about Farmville Central High School and it is being looked into by the PCSO. The safety of your children is of the utmost importance to FCHS, the Farmville Police Department, and the PCSO. I would ask that instead of continuing to share the post and fueling the fire, that you allow those agencies involved to handle the situation.”…
By burying it? No, thanks.
It comes from the state and they can’t do anything about it? Well, I know there are some pretty influential people in state government who read this blog on a daily basis. (I bet there are at least one or two of them who could do something about it.)
Watch this video and listen to the examples this woman is providing. Imagine someone offering a public school lesson featuring anecdotes from the Old or New Testament. The ACLU would be all over it. The educrats would be all over said faculty member. THIS — going on right now in Farmville, North Carolina — IS Common Core. And if it is happening there, it is likely going on in your community too.
As I’ve mentioned before — I teach some courses part-time at area colleges. I’ve encountered plenty of high school graduates enrolled in these courses who CANNOT communicate coherently in writing. I’ve been issued textbooks for my business classes that feature whole chapters on “diversity” and “environmental responsibility.” Free market Capitalism is discussed in these books in terms of The Great Depression and The 2008 Financial Crisis and how free market capitalism brought on those hard times. Chapters on leadership have cited Nelson Mandela, Che Guevera, Mao Tse-Tung and Hillary Clinton as examples of “great leaders.”
Common Core is not what the educrats say — elevating standards to make our kids more competitive with those in other countries. It’s political indoctrination. It’s dumbing-down. And it’s unacceptable.
This expose just proves we cannot trust the “educrats.” Pitt County citizens need to recall and replace their school board. Governor McCrory should fire his State Board of Education immediately. If the educrats responsible for this debacle are not replaced, there needs to be a citizen uprising!
The General Assembly needs to authorize a citizen textbook review commission to get to the bottom of this crap. Textbooks these days are full of leftwing political propaganda as are things like the Weekly Reader for elementary kids.
If that is all the shameful big textbook companies can provide, then NC needs to commission and print its own textbooks.
And we need to eviscerate ALL aspects of Common Core.
Please educate yourselves on Common Core — http://www.ladyliberty1885.com or http://www.stopcommoncorenc.org.
McCrory is right at the epicenter of this debate and a HUGE supporter of Common Core. Funny how the commission to review Common Core standards never received funding. His right hand education man, Eric Guckian, is a HUGE supporter of Common Core and a Teach for AmeriKa alum. Again, funny how the Common Core review commission never received funding. Then, of course, there is June Atkinson who is our hack DPI head AND the president of CSSO, which is a HUGE supporter of Common Core. The list is endless — and spans both parties.
It is an inside job, folks.
This old saying says it all. ” The winners write the text books” This has been going on since before the 1930’s. The World Government wannabes will not be happy until they have designated a one world religion i. e. Islam is a cult but would turn the world back 500 years to the Dark Ages. The UN is behind all these programs and it is all part of the Agenda 21 philosophy as well as Sustainable Development and Global Warming. If we are not careful our criminal government will do away with the Constitution of the united states all in the name of the United Nations. There goes the neighborhood.
