Lawsuit against Team Berger headed to Court of Appeals. (Uncle Phil is NOT pleased.)
A Rockingham County GOP candidate is not giving up his fight against Phil Berger‘s political operation. Attorneys for Team Berger have attempted to stomp the life out of Craig Travis‘s defamation suit before it can even get to trial.
Travis, the complainant, is represented by Raleigh’s Alicia Jurney — who represented Scott Lassiter in his divorce proceedings and forever linked lil’ Timmy from Kings Mountain to the Biscuitville restaurant franchise.
Today, Jurney and her team filed a notice of appeal of the *special* judge’s dismissal of their case.
The last development in the case featured a *special* superior court judge – appointed and approved by a General Assembly controlled by Berger and now-congressman Tim Moore – dismissing Travis’s suit outright and threatening to report his attorneys to the state bar.
Craig Travis has shown a lot of courage by standing up to the NC GOP political machine. A lot of people want things to change in the NC Republican Party, but few are willing to expose themselves to the scrutiny, harassment, and potential retaliation that goes along with pushing back against the corruption.
That’s understandable. It’s not worth it when the status quo is guaranteed to be maintained. Conservatives have to reorganize en masse under another party’s banner to actually reform the ncgop.
