Beyond the beach trips and the BBQs

There’s a lot of excitement this weekend about hitting the beach and hauling out the grill.    It’s great to have fun during the long weekend.  But we also need to remember WHAT allows us to live in such a great country and have some many great opportunities:  folks who have — without question or protest — strapped on a helmet, grabbed a gun, and headed out to risk their lives and face the unknown  when their nation called.

Before you chow down at that backyard BBQ, say a few words to “the man upstairs” for the folks who have died in defense of their country, and those who are still risking their lives for us.

The  next time you encounter an active duty member of the military, or even a retired veteran, shake their hand and tell them ‘Thanks.’   You owe them AT LEAST that much.  We all do.
