Deja vu and The tale of the e-mail.

Two years ago, Dallas & co. at the state GOP HQ played games with the chairman’s race.  They managed to get incumbent Robin Hayes all the info he needed to campaign  for reelection.  But challenger Jim Womack hit roadblock after roadblock in trying to obtain simple things like emails and phone numbers for convention delegates.

You would think that — with all the bad karma floating around inside and around the NCGOP — things would be a little nicer and more diplomatic in Womack v. Hayes, part 2.  Guess again.

Here’s an email exchange that appears to have been copied to at least, oh,  24 people:

[…] Katie & Dallas;

I note with interest that some candidates who have announced for state offices have already been provided access to confidential lists of NCGOP members and potential delegates which they are already using to their advantage.
Unfortunately, no such lists have yet been offered to me or to Miriam Chu, even though it is well known both of us are running for Chair and Vice Chair respectively.
I believe both of you are aware I was denied timely access to NCGOP-managed lists in 2017, giving me a distinct disadvantage in competing for the Chairmanship, while Mr. Hayes had unlimited access to those lists and used them extensively.
At one time in our history, the NCGOP was a fair and noble organization, reliable to provide equal opportunity for its members to participate and lead.  In the interest in returning to those times, I humbly request you release to me immediately, the following lists, formatted in MS Excel, so Mrs. Chu and I can use them in the same way that John Lewis and Robin Hayes are using them to contact prospective delegates and members of the party for support:
1.  The complete and separate delegate lists for each of the last three state conventions (2016, 2017, 2018) including names, addresses, emails, telephone numbers, county represented, and district represented.
2.  The complete and separate registration lists for each of the past three state conventions (2016, 2017, and 2018) including names, addresses, emails, telephone numbers, county represented, and district represented, for those delegates who actually registered and attended those three conventions.
3.  The complete and updated list of all members of the NCGOP Executive Committee, identifying title/position, full name, email address, telephone number, county of residence, and district of residence.
4.  And, immediately as they are received, please send us the electronic county delegate lists arriving from each county in March/April 2019 for the state convention and formattted in MS Excel as required by the state POO.
I assure the NCGOP I will not use this confidential information for any purpose other than to make personal contacts in support of my campaign for NCGOP Chairman.
In in the interest of integrity, I anticipate you will want to begin making these lists available to us immediately (this week) so as not to afford Mr. Lewis and Mr. Hayes an unfair advantage in these important races.
Thanks you in advance for your kind consideration of this request.
Warm Regards/
Jim Womack […]
It appears Dallas was not pleased with this communication from Mr. Womack:

[…] lets not start off with all the damn vitriol

As you might be aware, We have been up to eyeballs in NC 9.
It is beyond the damn  pale, for me to anticipate what in the hell you want.
We will send these to you these as soon as we are able. That should be in 24 hours or so,
And for the damn record, I do not appreciate the accusatory tone.
As to this section:
I believe both of you are aware I was denied timely access to NCGOP-managed lists in 2017, giving me a distinct disadvantage in competing for the Chairmanship, while Mr. Hayes had unlimited access to those lists and used them extensively.
I AM NOT AWARE OF THIS BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAPPEN
I HIGHLY suggest you alter your tone, As I am not putting up with this […]

*Now, Dallas.  Is this anyway to speak to your new boss?*
How much anticipation would be involved here?  He’s asking for the same things he asked for from Dallas two years ago.  And it’s the same things Dallas has apparently already provided Hayes and Lewis  THIS YEAR.  (Lewis is already making robocalls and sending out mass emails.)  There sure has been enough time to provide the information to THEM.
Here’s the Womack response to THAT outburst:

Dallas;

Thanks for your timely response.  No vitriol intended in my original post.  I was merely pointing out the facts- that I was never provided those lists from the NCGOP and you know that to be true.  But let’s not dwell on two years ago.  Let us cordially work together, absent the expletives, and agree to ensure equal access to vital information for all candidates.
We eagerly await those lists.
Warm Regards/
Jim Womack
