NC Dems out-foxxed

Charlotte mayor Anthony Foxx, fresh off an overwhelmingly successful reelection campaign, is putting out word through surrogates that he is taking a pass on the governor’s race.  So, that leaves us with two confirmed Democrats in the race — Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton and state Rep. Bill Faison of Orange County.   Party big-dogs are still trying to persuade Erskine Bowles to jump in.  Congressmen Mike McIntyre, Heath Shuler, and Brad Miller — all with uphill fights for reelection in 2012 — are making noises about jumping in to the gubernatorial primary.

With Dalton moving up to the gubernatorial race, I don’t believe the Democrats have a credible candidate in place for the state’s #2 slot in 2012.
