#nc-02: Even the Ellmers campaign’s fact-checking is full of crap

Big Government Barbie™ has added a section on her campaign web site called Truth.   And if THIS is what Truth looks like, I suuuuuuure would hate to see what constitutes LYING in her world. neenee

The page starts off with this snarky statement published, I’m sure, by that extra from “Mean Girls” who serves as her press spokesperson:

If other candidates disagree with Renee Ellmers on her policy stances, we welcome an honest discussion about the issues that matter to our constituents, but the people of the 2nd district of North Carolina deserve to be provided with accurate information.

O-Kay.  Let’s check out some of this, um, “truth”:

Congresswoman Ellmers believes marriage should be between one man and one woman. She has never opposed a Marriage Protection Amendment. During the 112th Congress, she cosponsored H.Con.Res.25 (Hartzler, R-MO), in which expressed the Department of Justice (DOJ) should discontinue defending the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and demanded the DOJ defend DOMA in all instances.[…]

“[T]he Department of Justice (DOJ) should discontinue defending the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and demanded the DOJ defend DOMA in all instances.[…]” ???  Discontinue BUT Continue?  smells

So, she believes marriage should between a man and a woman.  But THAT is what the marriage amendment to the state constitution approved in 2012 SAID.   But Nee-Nee decided to trash it to any driveby / left-wing activist who would listen.

Ready for some more, um, “truth” ? :

Congresswoman Ellmers is unapologetically pro-life. Congresswoman Ellmers removed her cosponsorship from the January 2015 version of the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act in an effort to force leadership to make the bill stronger. She was successful in this effort as a much better, more pro-life version of the Pain-Capable bill passed the House on May 13, 2015 with her support (Roll call no. 223 –http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2015/roll223.xml).

O-kay.  The pro-life lobby in DC seems to remember that whole episode a lot differently:

In January, Congresswoman Renee Ellmers led the charge to sabotage the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act — a move that ultimately forced Republicans to pull the bill from the House floor — because she disagreed with a requirement in the bill that rape be reported to a law enforcement agency before an abortion is performed for rape.

Now, she is pushing for a much wider loophole in the pro-life bill that could render it meaningless by allowing virtually any abortion under the bill.

Republican leaders in the House had planned to hold a monumental vote on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade in January on the Pain Capable Unborn Childleo Protection Act, legislation that bans abortions after 20 weeks based in part on the compelling scientific evidence showing unborn babies feel intense pain at that point, if not earlier.

However, several Republicans who have pro-life voting records and voted for the bill the last time around, publicly led by Rep. Renee Ellmers, sabotaged the bill by objecting to the provision allowing abortions in cases of rape or incest only if the rape were reported to law enforcement. Ellmers and the lawmakers who worked with her, threatened to vote against the bill or kill it by siding with Democrats to kill it. Although Ellmers publicly indicated she would vote for the bill, privately she painted another picture and she and other members forced House Republican leaders to pull the bill and rework the language.

[…]

Yeah.  The pro-life folks *appreciated* her work so much they issued a “letter of condemnation” against her.    (The, um, *richest* moment of this whole episode was when she defended her opposition to the bill by saying the government is not in the business of saying what IS and what IS NOT rape.  The criminal code begs to differ.)

And now the page moves on to the subject of amnesty and illegal aliens and all that goodness: 2015104244

Like most Americans, Congresswoman Ellmers believes President Obama should enforce the laws already on the books when it comes to immigration. And that means making deportation of illegal immigrant felons a priority.

Until we have a president who will enforce America’s immigration laws, our immigration system will stay broken. The Desantis Amendment was – something that happens too often in Washington – a show vote. Specifically, the amendment limits any funds from being used for any policy that does not prioritize the removal of illegal aliens convicted of domestic violence, sexual abuse, child molestation, or child exploitation as a high priority. Congresswoman Ellmers completely agrees with the intent of the amendment, and has worked extensively to fight against human trafficking. The fact is DHS is already mandated by law to remove aliens that have committed any felony.

(http://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/ 14_1120_memo_prosecutorial_discretion.pdf). Renee knows she was sent to Washington to promote North Carolina values, not to take “show votes.” In this case, attention should be put on the executive branch for failing to enforce the laws already passed by Congress.

*Ooof.*   HERE we have Ellmers as a leading opponent of the effort to defund Obama’s DACA amnesty scam.   HERE she ran in 2014 on “comprehensive immigration reform” which is code for AMNESTY.   HERE she is performing the old Washington trick of taking both sides of the issue. reneeryanq

And let’s not forget ObamaCare:

Recently, Congresswoman Ellmers held a roundtable discussion in Apex with business owners about the negative impact of Obamacare. During the discussion, Renee and the attendees described the disaster that Obamacare has been for health care and the economy. Renee also mentioned individuals are focusing more on their personal health now that the cost of care has increased under Obamacare.

Congresswoman Ellmers’ opposition to Obamacare is on record and undisputed, however, power-hungry political opponents are trying to convince voters that any mention of living a healthier life is akin to supporting Obamacare.[…]

Her opposition is on record and undisputed?  She spent THREE HOURS in Pinehurst in 2013 poo-pooing Tea Party demands that she jointoy the fight to defund ObamaCare.  She told the drivebys that she would ”asbolutely not” join Mark Meadows and Ted Cruz in their heroic fight to kill ObamaCare.

The bottom line?  Renee Ellmers enjoys Washington way too much.  She perpetrated a fraud in her initial 2010 win, and has been continuing the bald-faced lying ever since.  She enjoys spending other people’s money and having power over other people’s lives. She is NOT what we need.  And she needs to GO.
