Adios, Aldona. (Let the cash dash BEGIN!)
I love being proved right. Not long after news broke about likely Democrat nominee Roy Cooper surpassing Gov. Pat in fundraising, DHHS secretary (and uber-fundraiser extraordinaire) Aldona Wos has been freed from her cage at DHHS and unleashed on the political world.
Wos is a valuable fundraising asset for the national GOP, as well. With North Carolina’s role as a 2016 swing state, her fundraising prowess will be more in demand, helpful, and influential than ever before.
What won’t help fundraising at the state level (like, for instance, for the governor) ? Recent polling showing that leaders in the state Senate are polling as more popular than the governor. McCrory has made criticism of the senate a centerpiece of his political strategy running up to the 2016 campaign.
Has is been determined yet what the NC DHHS (NC Dept of Health and Human Services) seat sold for? And is currently on block for the next title holder?

Replacement doesn’t look better, but to be honest was more concerned mccrory would promote one of the undersecretaries in dhhs for this opening…which would have been TERRIBLE as they were all longterm Dem partisans that Wos kept on.
Don’t expect this guy to be any better on policy or staffing. He is a registered Unaffiliated with no SBOE history of political contributions in North Carolina. You can expect all of those holdover Democrats to keep their jobs. Thhis is the department that runs all of the welfare programs.
Governors Holshouser and Martin seemed to be able to find Secretaries and subordinate staff for this department who were bona fide Republicans and advanced Republican policy goals. Why does McCrory not seem to be able to or willing to do the same?
