“Far” right, far left — AND FAR WRONG !

That reanimated fossil Rob Christensen is at it again in The N&O newsroom.  I still don’t understand WHY people think he is such a political Svengali.  He doesn’t have a clue.  Here he is on last Tuesday’s vote: North Carolina’s primary on Tuesday reflected two powerful national trends that are coursing through the body politic — the continued political polarization in the age of Trump and the rise of the #MeToo movement. If you were a Republican candidate running in the primary, you couldn’t be too conservative or too pro-Trump. If you were a Democrat, you couldn’t be too liberal…

#ncpol: A little Rob-on-Rob love

Rob “RielleWho” Christensen is exactly what Rush means when he speaks of “the driveby media.”   For decades, he’s covered up and apologized for the likes of Jim Hunt and John Edwards while tying himself up in knots to screw conservatives at every turn.  Republican primary voters should know to be very wary of any Republican  Christensen speaks kindly of.  Here Rob is trying to save Robert Pittenger: If you want an example of just how empty and dispiriting American politics has become, all you have to do is look at the Republican congressional primary in the Charlotte-centric 9th district.[…]  You…

NC drivebys covering up sexual misconduct? (*YA DON’T SAY!!!*)

Yessirree.  North Carolina’s, um, “favorite” geriatric driveby — rumored to be the inspiration for the title character in “Weekend at Bernie’s”  (filmed on NC’s Bald Head Island, Figure 8 island, Kure Beach, and Wrighsville Beach, for what it’s worth) — is wowing us again with a political shocker: Drivebys  cover up  misconduct by their favorite pols. (In case you haven’t noticed, we don’t play that game ’round these parts.) And Rob Christensen ought to know about that.  He followed John Edwards around for a year — starry-eyed — as the Raleigh ambulance-chaser cum-senator ran for president in 2008.  The whole time —…

RobC: Budget “cuts” (NOT Gene Nichol, fake classes, or Queer Studies degrees) hurting UNC’s rep

Yes.  The “Bernie” of our state’s gasping-for-that-last-breath driveby media is still peddling that nonsense that spending more money equals excellence.  (That gets shot down ALL THE TIME.  Texas Gov. John Connolly spent $11 million bucks – a LOT more than anybody else — his 1980 campaign for president. He won ONE — count ’em, ONE – delegate.)  Nevertheless, the old codger TRIED: There are signs that the University of North Carolina system, for decades the state’s pride and joy, has been losing ground. The legislature recently passed a $2.8 billion budget for the UNC system, barely an improvement over the $2.6…

#ncpol: Keep party affiliation a secret — JUST LIKE John Edwards’s girlfriend.

That’s the advice that allegedly-still-living-and-breathing crackerjack N&O columnist Rob Christensen is giving legislators in Raleigh:  During the middle of the last century, there was a reform effort in North Carolina to depoliticize municipal government, removing power from the old ward bosses and making city government more businesslike. That is when most cities instituted the council-manager form of government in an effort to place the day-to-day running of City Hall in the hands of trained professionals. City elections were made nonpartisan, and elections were scheduled in odd-numbered years, separating them from the normal Democratic-Republican food fights. It was easy to “depoliticize”…

#ncpol Dazed & Confused & Lazy: Old Man Rob takes on the NC-02 race

For some reason, Rob Christensen is heralded as some wise oracle of North Carolina politics.  I guess it’s because he’s been around so long.  But does hanging around for a long time qualify you as great?  If so, that 20 year old senior at the local high school must be a freakin’ genius.  The N&O’s octagenarian politics scribbler — standing tip-toed on a cliff overlooking that abyss some refer to as ‘dementia’ — evidently did a little Googling to come up with today’s column on the 2nd congressional district GOP primary: Jim Duncan’s first TV ad begins with him standing in…

#ncpol: A fool and his newspaper column.

Thank goodness McClatchy continues to prop up that geriatric relic RobRielleWho Christensen.  If they didn’t, where else would we find such a glaring, prominent example of lazy reporting, and contempt for his readers and everything capitalist and American?  RobRielleWho’s latest screed is comparing the current concern about “Syrian refugees” to events that occurred during his middle-age years — The Second World War: The most dangerous place to stand during the past few days has been between a politician and a TV camera, as they try to one-up each other in showing how opposed they are to admitting Syrian refugees. North Carolina…

Rob Christensen: Still making a mess after ALL THESE YEARS.

His employer’s stock is hovering around “junk” territory.   (A lot of folks have been laid off in McClatchy newsrooms.  But ROB is STILL THERE.)  Rob has something in common with Unvision’s Jorge Ramos.  He, like Jorge, has been tossed out of a media event by a prominent Republican political figure.  (Jesse Helms had the deed done to Rob at a GOP event in Raleigh a few decades back.) Scowling Rob — Blinkin’ Chris’s sidekick (and NO RELATION) — describes the N&O newsroom’s geriatric squatter as  ”a confirmed centrist who has sometimes frustrated progressives down through the years with his…

Call a lefty. Transcribe. Disseminate. Repeat. (Call a lefty. Transcribe …. )

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” — Joseph Goebbels  “What is happening is that Obama’s unpopularity is being trumped by the Republican…

Farewell to the shih-tzu

Something’s missing.  There is a real void on Raleigh’s Jones and McDowell Streets.  Apparently, John Drescher’s pet shih-tzu has run off to Denver, CO for greener pastures. Mr. Frank’s absence has had a clear effect on the product of McClatchy’s Raleigh subsidiary.  Some of WRAL Binky’s incompetence would rub off on him — occasionally — but, once in a while, he’d ask some good questions and come up with some good tidbits. Now, we’re getting an awful lot of copy from McClatchy’s out-of-state holdings, and not so much locally-generated copy. Why did Mr. Drescher’s lap dog run off?  Wake County…
