L’affaire Farr: Tim Scott? Down with the struggle. Burr / Tillis? Useless /MIA.

We’re starting to learn a valuable lesson here.  If  a DC Republican wants to nominate you for something, BEWARE.  The minute leftists say the slightest negative thing about you, your Republican brethren on The Potomac will drop you like a hot potato and hang you out to dry like this morning’s laundry.  Raleigh’s Tom Farr is the latest to learn this lesson — THE HARD WAY.  Farr got nominated to fill a vacant federal court seat serving North Carolina. He’s been run through the driveby media meat-grinder with nary an assist from his fellow GOPers.  Leftist dirtbags from The Round…

The REAL Helms legacy

Jesse Helms was arguably the man who made being conservative AND Republican cool in North Carolina.  His televised editorials opened a ton of eyes and stimulated a lot of deep thinking among the North Carolina electorate.  He helped set the tone that led to the 1972 Nixon reelection rout, the capture of the governor’s mansion  that year, and the 1980 victory of Ronald Reagan over Jimmy Carter.  An awful lot of conservative leaders today  (including this blogger) credit the man with inspiring them.  An awful lot of lefties in and out of academia try awful hard to rewrite history and…

Earmarks, the Helms way.

Somebody recently shared this letter-to-the-editor in The Wall Street Journal by Wayne Boyles, a former coworker during my Capitol Hill days: Rep. Mark Walker is correct (“GOP Maps a Road to Nowhere in November,” op-ed, Jan. 16. If Senate and House Republicans allow for the resumption of earmarks, they will be turned out of Congress and spend many years in the political wilderness. As a Senate staffer who worked for over two decades in that chamber, dealing with earmarks was a royal pain. They were a large distraction in the appropriations process, drove up spending and in more cases than…

The Round Rev takes his B.S. national

Jesse Helms has been dead and buried for TEN YEARS now.  But that hasn’t stopped North Carolina’s most notorious sloppy, snake-oil peddling, jheri-curled jackass from stomping on his grave in a nasty NY Times op-ed that looks seriously cribbed from a column posted earlier on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s web site: Among President Trump’s worrisome nominees to the judiciary, perhaps none is as alarming as Thomas Alvin Farr, a protégé of Jesse Helms, the former North Carolina senator, and a product of the modern white supremacist machine that Mr. Helms pioneered. Mr. Farr, nominated to serve on the United…

From Helms v. Kennedy to McConnell v. Warren: Massachusetts senators STILL won’t follow the rules

There’s been a lot of hubbub about the US Senate Republican takedown of Elizabeth Warren the other night for her smear of Jeff Sessions.  A friend and fellow Jesse Helms alumnus sent me the following — reminding us of Massachusetts’s long and proud tradition of sending screaming maniacal leftist blowhards, who refuse to learn or follow the rules, to the US Senate: U.S. Senate Debate, M.L. King Holiday, Oct. 18, 1983, p. 28071,   Mr. KENNEDY. Mr. President, I yield myself such time as I may use. Mr. President, I will respond to the points made by the Senator from…

Hey, drive-bys! Your dishonesty is showing.

You know, it’s really something to read reverential treatment of the late great Jesse Helms in the pages of that miserable, dying propaganda rag on Raleigh’s McDowell Street.  Those cretins spent decades viciously smearing the man. They questioned his intelligence, mocked his personal appearance, and told vicious lie after lie about his political positions. Now, after he’s dead and buried, they’re trying to tell us ol’ Jesse would have wanted Adam and Steve to get married, and for any baker or florist who refused to provide for the “wedding” to be publicly crucified. Sorry, Rob (and you too, Mr. Drescher)….
