Char-Meck schools go ‘gangsta’ on N. Meck taxpayers

Not so long ago, we were told how terrible it was to crack down on local governments.  (Something about bathrooms and cross-dressing.) Well, that apparently only applies if sane folks are hassling the liberal counter-culture. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools has dropped a bomb on taxpayers in North Mecklenburg that even The Charlotte Observer finds offensive: […] The most reckless public officials in Charlotte were at it again Tuesday, escalating a fight that needed to be calmed, threatening families they needed on their side and, once again, keeping it all secret from a public they appear to disdain. In an act that was…

Left-wing racism rears its head in #ncpol debate

We’re told charter schools are bad because, if the wealthier mostly-white parents who really care about their kids’ education partake in a little school choice, all that will be left in the traditional bureaucratic rat-hole public schools will be mostly lower-income and minority students.  Average test scores will plummet.  Government grants will dry up.  Now, here come the voter ID opponents telling us that it is racist to even suggest that everyone needs to be able to absolutely prove who they are — even when partaking in one of our most sacred cherished rights as Americans. If you believe the…

#ncga: It’s gettin’ all STUPID up in here.

Keith Poston, a guy who used to run communications for the state prison system when the Democrats ran Raleigh, is now the head guy for something called The Public School Forum of North Carolina — which is little more than a mouthpiece for all of the leeches who devote their lives to sucking as much taxpayer revenue as possible out of state coffers in the name of the lil’ chil’ren. State prisons to public education.  Really not much of a stretch there.  Anyway, Keith is breaking new ground in liberal debate tactics by mixing the DISCRIMI-RACISM bogeyman with trannies and…

(Wait for it. WAAAAAAAAIT FOR IT.) “Um, discrimi-racism !!!”

The meek, bashful soft-spoken Ann Coulter has a great piece out on how leftists LOVE to use blacks as “props” in their performance theater aimed at defending and expanding their agenda. *Voter ID is not about securing the integrity of our elections process.  It’s RAAAAAAAACISM.  More black folks in the local jail than white folks?  RACISM and DISCRIMINATION. More black folks than white folks being paid millions per year to play kid’s games? (Um, never mind.) * Over on Jones Street, they are moving a bill allowing some municipalities in Mecklenburg County to establish city-operated charter schools as an alternative…

Evaluating something on MERIT = Political Extremism. (So sayeth Scowlin’ Rob & Blinkin’ Chris.)

WRAL commisar Jim Goodmon has sicced his heavily-subsidized handmaidens Blinkin’ Chris and Scowlin’ Rob on our state’s lieutenant governor.  And let me tell ya — Goodmon’s gals produced a doozy.  They’ve produced sentences linking concepts like Dan Forest and The Soviet Union. That’s as bizarre as making a connection between Chris and George Clooney or, even, MENSA.  (How does that old song from kindergarten go? “Which of these things is not like the other? …”)  Now sit back and be prepared for some, um, stimulation, or something:  There have been lots of excellent critiques of Lt. Gov. Dan Forest’s recent Soviet-style…

Screw quality and performance. Give us “Diversity.”

Lefties like to paint those of us on the right, who resist the dark side, as bigots. But they should take a good hard look at themselves.  Ever notice how they stereotype all blacks, Hispanics and women as thinking and behaving alike?   (Notwithstanding various and sundry OB-GYN related topics, WHAT IS a “women’s issue”?  For every Deborah Ross or Hillary Rodham fangirl, I run across tons of female fans of THIS site who are ideologically-aligned with me, or even TO MY RIGHT.)   The usual race and gender pimps on the left like to bandy about the word ”diversity” to…

Lawsuit against Moore County schools administrator moves forward

Edward Pruden was hired in August on an interim basis to fill the vacancy at the Moore County central office left by Kathy Kennedy. According to Wilmington’s Port City Daily, Pruden has some unfinished business from his old job in Brunswick County that will likely involve a person in a black robe armed with a gavel and 12 of his peers: A defamation lawsuit from a local charter school management company against Brunswick County’s former superintendent continues to head toward a trial. Last month, a New Hanover County Superior Court judge denied Dr. Edward Pruden’s request to dismiss the suit, filed…

Robeson County case illustrates perils govt bureaucrats pose to charter schools

Robeson County — in southeastern North Carolina — is a prime example of where some serious education reform is needed.  The county leads the state in nearly ALL of the bad categories.  The county’s public school system is an utter disaster. Flora McDonald Academy, a private school in Red Springs, is an oasis in the midst of this economic desert.   FMA was originally the site of a prestigious finishing school for girls.  The school struggled when co-ed higher education started to take off.  Regional residents revived the campus as a K-12 private school.  The school, for years, has given…

Lefties LOSE IT over Senator Tillman’s charter school proposal

It’s absolutely refreshing to hear an elected official championing the supremacy of the free market over the iron-fist of the bureaucracy.  Legislation introduced by state Senator Jerry Tillman (R-Randolph) seeks to enhance innovation within public education and diminish the influence of the education establishment. Basically, Tillman’s bill yanks oversight of publicly-funded charter schools away from the state board of education and gives it to a newly-created oversight entity.  Tillman argues that the current state education board — packed with allies of the education establishment — is throwing monkey wrenches into the effort to bring positive change to the state’s…

Snow is cold. The sun is hot. NCAE opposes a Republican.

The N&O is presenting the surprising, shocking news that the NC Association of Educators is upset with GOP gubernatorial nominee — and general election frontrunner — Pat McCrory.   Apparently the union is mad about the fact that McCrory supports (1) charter schools, and 2) charter schools that are run  by a company being “investigated” for using uncertified teachers. These days, the public education establishment is ALL ABOUT scooping up the most taxpayer money as possible while indoctrinating all employees and students with leftist pabulum.  Universities are turning out education majors who can prattle on and on about…
