Adios, Aldona. (Let the cash dash BEGIN!)

I love being proved right.     Not long after news broke about likely Democrat nominee Roy Cooper surpassing Gov. Pat in fundraising,  DHHS secretary (and uber-fundraiser extraordinaire) Aldona Wos  has been freed from her cage at DHHS and unleashed on the political world.   Wos is a valuable fundraising asset for the national GOP, as well.  With North Carolina’s role as a 2016 swing state, her fundraising prowess will be more in demand, helpful, and influential than ever before. What won’t help fundraising at the state level (like, for instance, for the governor) ? Recent polling showing that leaders…

Hasta la vista, Aldona?

We’ve heard time and again about how NC DHHS secretary Aldona Wos is on her way out the door.  But she’s still here. That story is making the rounds of political circles again, only this time it has more details. Here’s how this latest version goes.  She’s the big kahuna for Team McCrory when it comes to fundraising.  She’s also a major fundraising player for the Republicans at the national level.  We have a big election coming up which will require her services in that area.  It will be tough to give 110 percent to fundraising while bogged down in…

GOP putting pedal to the metal on O-Care sellout?

It’s arguable that the Republican electoral success in 2010  had its origins in voter anger over the passage of ObamaCare.  Republicans won governor seats, state legislative majorities, and a majority in the US House.  It was pretty clear what the voters were looking for. Fast forward to 2014, and you are seeing Republican candidates and officials discreetly, in discussions about ObamaCare, replacing the word “repeal” with “replace” or “fix”.   The AP can’t contain its glee as it reports on Republicans across the country reportedly seeing ObamaCare as a permanent fixture in American society: While Republicans in Congress shout, “Repeal Obamacare,”…

“Witch”-Gate: Binky & WRAL got some ‘splainin’ to do

Who Killed JFK?  Who shot JR?  DID Martin Nesbitt really call Aldona Wos a witch? WRAL’s  Mark “Binky” Binker — Cagney to Laura Leslie’s Lacey — has had the North Carolina political world atwitter over his reporting about DHHS Secretary Aldona Wos’ recent appearance before a legislative committee. He included  a quote attributed to Senate Democrat leader Martin Nesbitt that appeared to suggest Nesbitt was calling Wos a ‘witch.’ Other media outlets ran with the reporting that included that quote.   The problem is — video of the hearing (fast forward to 3:25) in question appears to suggest Binker did a…

Did I say Witch? Pardon me. I MEANT “Bitch.”

You’ve gotta love this civility, peace and love crowd.  When they ran things into the ground in Raleigh, they frequently shut down GOP and conservative protests by lecturing about the need for “civility.”  The GOP takes over in 2010 — and solidifies control in 2012 — and ALL that civility stuff goes right out the window. Early in 2013, we heard about this BluePrintNC memo put out by a coalition of leftist screech owls laying out a strategy for Democrats and other leftists to “eviscerate” the new Republican majority.  The Democrats and their media lapdogs poo-pooed GOP concerns about BluePrint…

McClatchy now doing HR work for DHHS?

I’m generally not one to argue with scrutinizing the government bureaucracy.  However, it DOES tick me off when our lazy, shiftless legacy media monopoly runs all of these “horror stories” about a Republican administration in Raleigh when the same types of stories earned yawns while Democrat governors were in office. I’ve been watching politics in this state for quite some time and I CANNOT recall any prior administration in Raleigh having its appointees subjected to such invasive public scrutiny. It’s pretty clear that Creepy Chris Fitzsimon and his team of Blueprinters want NCDHHS secretary Aldona Wos GONE.  They’ve been feeding…

Piling on Dr. Wos

Make no mistake — we are NOT exactly “fans” of the welfare state here.  In our opinion, the NC Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) could collapse into a giant sinkhole — never to be seen again — and the world would be a better place. But the media-performed colonoscopy being performed on Dr. Aldona Wos, the current NCDHHS secretary, is no longer teetering on the brink. It has fallen head-first into a bottomless pit of outrageousness. I think scrutiny of the bureaucracy is great.  But it needs to be evenhanded — just as tough on Democrats as Republicans…
