#nc-03: Walter Jones not done yet with Scott Dacey

The votes may be counted and the results finalized for the May primary.  But the first place finisher in the 3rd district GOP congressional primary, Walter Jones, is not quite finished with third-place finisher Scott Dacey. According to a statement issued from the Jones campaign, the congressman is appealing to the state board of elections about alleged misconduct during the primary by the Dacey campaign: […] The May 2018 Republican Primary for North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District was one of the most talked about in the nation.   Congressman Walter Jones garnered the support of the voters, but now he…

Walter Jones to Scott Dacey: ‘See You in Court.’

The bloody primary for the 3rd congressional district GOP nomination is over. But it sounds like there will be further discussions, involving lawyers and judges, between two of the campaigns involved. Congressman Walter Jones was on Wednesday’s “Tom and Sadie” radio program talking about the election aftermath.  “Tom” asked Jones about the Dacey ad alleging ties between Jones and George Soros.  The host mentioned the restraining order the Jones campaign hit Dacey with, and asked where that all stood.  Here’s what Jones had to say: […] “I’m going to pursue it. The reason I’m going to pursue it, Tom and…

#NC-03: John Boehner backs Scott Dacey

That’s what the folks at Bloomberg say: Add former Speaker John Boehner to the list of Washington names piling on against Rep. Walter Jones. Jones (R-N.C.) is being challenged in next week’s primary election. Boehner’s political action committee, The Freedom Project, sent a $1,500 contribution April 27 to Scott Dacey, a county commissioner and lobbyist seeking to unseat Jones. The Freedom Project’s “purpose is to keep and expand a conservative majority in the U.S. House,” John Criscuolo, the group’s executive director and a longtime Boehner aide, said in an e-mail to Bloomberg Government. “Scott Dacey is our best shot in…

#ncpol: Conservative PAC takes a bite out of Scott Dacey

Eastern Carolina Conservatives Fund is putting its two cents in about congressional candidate Scott Dacey, who — if you haven’t heard — is a lobbyist for Indian casinos. Dacey, Phil Law, and Walter Jones are all seeking the GOP nomination for North Carolina’s 3rd congressional district. ECCF has apparently decided to educate the good folks in the Third District about Mr. Dacey.  A radio ad and a television ad both started running across the district today. Election Day is May 8th.

Wheels coming OFF on Scott Dacey’s Soros fantasy?

Lying and obfuscation are such an integral part of American politics that we often accept it and / or become immune to it.  But sometimes, the bovine fecal matter gets piled on so thick, and its odor becomes so unbearable, you have to SAY SOMETHING. Sites like ours on the right, and The Intercept on the left, are committed to putting the powerful under a microscope and calling out their malfeasance when it is spotted. We reported earlier on Indian casino lobbyist Scott Dacey’s highly-dubious, far-fetched efforts to link congressman Walter Jones with leftist super-villain George Soros.  Apparently, even the folks at…

NC-03: Dacey’s own #’s show a loss to Jones AND somebody named UNDECIDED.

There is an interesting strategy being put forth by NCGOPe types this cycle.  Put a lot of bad news out there, and demand MO’ MONEY. We saw Matt Bales with the NC House GOP caucus doing it.   Now here comes Indian casino lobbyist (and GOP congressional candidate) Scott Dacey and his campaign guru Paul Shumaker: Okay.  Let me do a little translation for you.  Team Dacey did something called a “push poll”  — where you call potential voters and feed them slanted, negative information about your opponent with the hope of driving your opponent’s approval numbers down.  This can be…

NC-03: Dacey takes a seat on the bandwagon

Right out of the starting gate, GOP candidate / Indian casino lobbyist Scott Dacey took to the radio airwaves and cyberspace to hug up tight to President Trump and question the conservative credentials of incumbent Walter Jones (who, by the way, is regularly ranked as one of the North Carolina delegation’s most conservative members). Jones has countered with a couple of ads of his own.  Here’s one: Listening to lobbyist Scott Dacey brag about being on the Trump Train made me do some checking as to exactly when he got on board.  Looking at Scott Dacey’s personal Facebook page, there’s…

#nc-03: Gambling interests, DC swamp betting BIG on Dacey

If you run into Craven County commissioner Scott Dacey, one of the first things likely to come out of his mouth is how much money he’s raised in his bid to oust Walter Jones from Congress.  Here he is on Facebook: Here’s the link to his report with the FEC.  Being the devoted public servants that we are, we decided to analyze it for you to verify whether the Dacey machine is truly the grassroots juggernaut it is being sold as.  Here we go: First, we only know the identity of donors who gave over $50. (Donors below $50 don’t…

#nc-03: “Outsider” Dacey hits up DC lobbyist pals for cash (Oh, yeah. We’ve got mail!)

Congressman Walter Jones’s challenger in the 3rd district, Scott Dacey, is making a big deal out of Jones’s lengthy tenure in DC and playing up his own service to the local area. So, if you’re planning on taking that route, WHY on earth would one of your first post-announcement moves be to hit up a bunch of DC lobbyists for cash? Here’s an email: From: Scott Dacey <scdacey@gmail.com> Date: July 10, 2017 at 9:44:12 PM EDT To: “Mahoney, Dan” <dmahoney@USChamber.com> Cc: Aurene Martin <amartin@spiritrockllc.com>, Jodi Gillette <JGillette@SONOSKY.COM>, “philip.baker-shenk@hklaw.com” <Philip.Baker-Shenk@hklaw.com>, “Paul.Moorehead@PowersLaw.com” <Paul.Moorehead@PowersLaw.com>, “jpata@ncai.org” <jpata@ncai.org>, “Mark.Cruz@mail.house.gov” <Mark.Cruz@mail.house.gov>, Larry Rosenthal <lrosenthal@ietan.com>, Scott Dacey…

#nc-03: Dacey client sent $100K to RNC while seeking Bush White House meeting

A $100K check is bound to get SOMEBODY’S attention.  Here’s The Arizona Daily Sun:  Just months after President Bush took office, the Republican Party accepted a $100,000 check from an Indian tribe seeking help in getting a meeting with Interior Secretary Gale Norton, according to internal GOP records. After the check was sent, the lobbyist for the Agua Caliente Indian band sent a thank-you letter to the GOP suggesting Norton’s office was considering its meeting request. The leader of the tribe eventually got to air its concerns to the interior secretary during a congressional tour near the tribe’s home in…
