#ncpol: Thilli$$$, Burr support EPA attack on trucking industry

And you thought the Democrats had cornered the market on jackasses:

Four GOP establishment senators and ten House Republicans signed a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt, asking him to save an Obama-era trucking rule.

The New York Times reported on Thursday that Sens. Todd Young (R-IN), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Richard Burr (R-NC) all signed onto a letter urging Pruitt to save an Obama-era glider truck emissions regulation.

[…]During the Obama administration, the EPA created a new rule to regulate glider trucks the same way as new trucks. Glider trucks are built by pairing a new chassis with an older diesel engine and powertrain. Glider trucks cost roughly 25 percent less compared to new trucks, making them more affordable for America’s trucking industry.

Steve Milloy, a Trump EPA transition team member, contends that the Obama-era regulation “would have essentially shuttered the glider industry.”[…]

What do you want to bet that there are campaign contributions at the heart of all this?

MORE:

Carl Howard, the vice president and general manager of H&H Freightliner, a North Carolina trucking company, reacted to the news that Sen. Burr supports the Obama-era trucking rule in an exclusive statement to Breitbart News.

Howard told Breitbart News:

The EPA rule eliminates our glider business in 2020. Without a new means to replace these sales we will see about a 40 percent decrease in vehicle sales. The term “decades of consistent regulation” regarding this is a joke. The only thing consistent with the regulation is that it changes. I think someone has pulled the wool over Burr’s eyes regarding this, and pretty disappointed he did not look at his constituents, or manufacturers in his state.  The largest manufacturer of the unassembled kits and new trucks has 2 plants in North Carolina. The manufacturers against it are not doing it for environmental concerns, they are doing it because they do not produce glider kits.  Who wouldn’t support a possible reduction in competition? Further, the perception is false that gliders put dirty trucks on the road, old worn out dirty trucks are pulled off and replaced with gliders. They replace dirty trucks, not create them.[…]

Tillis badly needs to get the sack in 2020. He is a disgrace to the NC Republican Party. And it is to be hoped that Burr will not welch on his promises to retire.

Does the John Locke Foundation or any of its affiliates have anything to say about this-or do they just sit idly by as usual as these two go their merry liberal way on quite a few issues.
Has anyone heard, read or seen the Locke toadies say one word in favor of President Trump or attacking the “witch hunt” and “fishing expedition” he is enduring every single day?
Think tank? I believe the tank is empty.
North Korea is going to denuclearize. China is lowering tariffs. ISIS is gone. Tax cuts are in effect. RINOs are stepping down in record numbers. We need to start talking about the #RedWave not #BlueWave. All because of President Trump. And that is just the first 15 months with a lousy Congress.

Both these Senators need to be driven out of office! If NC had a recall capacity, they would not still be Swamp dwellers. I suggest the Unaffiliates vet a candidate to challenge Tillis! 2020 will be here very soon.

The EPA is an unconstitutional department, establishment by an unconstitutional executive order by Nixon. Article III section 8 cl 3, the commerce clause was ratified by the states, to make commerce regular, not hindered.
The constitutional method to eliminate this and other unconstitutional infringements ( abortion, Obamacare, eduction etc),by all three federal branches is easy, but takes guts. Our founders didn’t chain the individual or the states to the whims of men in the federal government. The constitution chained the federal government to it’s enumerated functions!
There are constitutional methods:1) Article I section 7 cl 1, house has the sole power or the purse- defund these departments and so called laws. 2) IX and X Amendment, IX protects all the unlisted inalienable rights of the individual. The X puts the power of the states and it’s people over nonenumerated federal functions- that’s Federalism, that’s the American republic!
Where the individual is superior to the collective. Where Liberty and Freedom are superior to coercion and compulsion! The American Experiment was formed and the foundation of individual liberty, private property, true free markets based on a gold standard , non aggression and the best defensive military possible.
The progressive establishment of both parties are the enemy of our republic! Principles over party- that’s the answer. To be continuously used by the progressives is insanity. Tillis and Burr have been exposed long before they were elected. The establishment has been exposed long before , as well. We as individuals , must stop being used. Now they changed the primary to 30% and we accept these rigged rules? Sad.
Liberty is a verb. Liberty built America, Liberty will do it again.America is a philosophical idea, an Experiment, where the individuals are Kings and Queens. The solution is in the mirror!

This. This man is who we need representing us! Greg Brannon is the only person I know who can apply the Constitution to every decision. Thank you Greg Brannon for always fighting for our freedom and to protect our Constitution. Burr and Thillis need to sit up and take notice and listen to what Dr. Brannon says!

Well said, and I agree with Patrick.

Has anyone considered how bizarre our situation is when it becomes necessary to organize a political party named the Constitution Party, because the two establishment parties no longer advocate abiding by the Constitution?

If good people don’t get a handle on the situation in our major parties very very soon we might as well start ringing their death bells. You’ll find me where people care about the principles of liberty.

But we know how the 2 party system controls voters: Tillis and Burr can and will be routinely trashed. However if they have the party’s nomination “Conservatives” will willingly vote for the lesser of 2 traitors and wonder why we continue to be transformed into a high tech police state. The powers that should not be do NOT care how informed you are AS LONG AS you’re gullible enough to vote for the lesser of 2 traitors. Most political discourse is designed to get voters to vent & feel good about voting for their party regardless of how often their party betrays them.

Bozell nailed it in this piece, “First, they asked for control of the House and its appropriations authority to right the fiscal ship, and as importantly, end Obamacare. In 2010, they got it — and immediately stated they could do nothing without the Senate.

In 2014, they were awarded that too — and just as quickly declared they could do nothing without the White House.

So, in 2016 they were handed that, and with it complete control of the legislative process, but now with no more excuses available…” http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/04/23/exclusive-bozell-last-chance-gop/

The GOP has awful leadership in all legislative bodies. Berger used to be the exception, but since he got ambitions for higher office, he has turned sharply left. I am hopeful that Jim Jordan can win the Speakership, as Renee Ellmers old boyfriend Kevin McCarthy would be even worse than Boehner or Ryanb.
