#ncga: Nathan West BOWING OUT in HD-115 GOP primary?
According to his primary opponent, THAT is the case. From a 
release by the Amy Evans campaign:
(Black Mountain, NC) Former Buncombe GOP Chairman Nathan West announced that he will no longer seek the Republican nomination in the upcoming primary election for NC House District 115 and will fully support Republican Businesswoman Amy Evans.
“After several meetings with Amy and considerable reflection with my friends and family, I’ve come to the conclusion that she represents our best chance to defeat the incumbent in November’s general election,” commented West. “And given our local political climate, a divisive Republican primary just won’t contribute to that larger goal.”
West reluctantly agreed to put his name forward, if only to hold the seat
open, because no other Republican candidate at that point had decided to run. Evans ended up filing 15 minutes before the primary deadline closed.
“Had I known Amy was going to throw her hat in the ring, I really wouldn’t have jumped in this cycle,” said West. “I have a great deal of respect for her: she’s smart and she’s had an impressive career in business,” stated West.
“To be clear, Nathan’s name will be on the ballot on May 8th, but he is no longer a candidate for the seat. He won’t be running for the seat,”stated Evans. “I want to thank Nathan for his generosity and his support, but mainly for his dedication and service to the Buncombe County Republican Party over the years. I would ask that you join me in wishing he and Sarah and the children ALL the Best in their future endeavors.”[…]
West had recently been dogged by published reports about an alleged six-figure child support debt. (No word yet if that had anything to do with this decision.)
Democrat John Ager is the incumbent in this district. Ager knocked off Republican incumbent Nathan Ramsay in 2014.
How was West “recently dogged by published reports..”?
Why is Amy Evans making major announcements on behalf of her political opponent?
Answer: She shouldn’t be & has done herself in completely with this stunt.

Mr. Jeff Moore (of firstinfreedom.com) says that “there is apparently nothing on file to indicate West has settled any of these tax debts.”
Is that how it works? If a matter is settled or dismissed, would the county notify Mr. Moore that there was never any problem?
The county’s Clerk of Superior Court’s office would receive notice when the $111,595.64 tax debt was paid. According to that office, no notice has been received. Unfortunately, the burden is on the accused to provide proof that the matter has been settled. No such proof has been produced.

WEST WITHDRAWS N.C. HOUSE CANDIDACY
(Montreat, N.C.) Nathan West announced today that he will no longer seek the Republican nomination in the upcoming primary election for North Carolina House District 115.
“I’ve come to the conclusion that continuing my candidacy at this time wouldn’t be in the party’s best interests,” commented West. “Given the local political climate, an ugly and divisive Republican primary just won’t contribute to defeating John Ager in November’s general election.”
West first reluctantly agreed to put his name forward as a candidate back in February, if only to hold the seat open, because no other Republican candidate at that point had decided to run. A Tea Party candidate, pushed by former school board member Lisa Baldwin, former party chair Chad Nesbitt, and current party chair Carl Mumpower, filed just 15 minutes before the primary deadline closed, however.
“I want to thank everyone for their support of my candidacy and their words of encouragement in the last few days,” concluded West. “Now’s just not my time. But there’s always 2020.”
West, 41, is a small business owner and independent insurance adjuster who specializes in natural disaster claims settlements. A graduate of T.C. Roberson High School and A-B Tech, he’s worked in the construction field since the age of 16. West served as Chairman of the Buncombe County Republican Party from March 2015 to March 2017 and as its Communications Director from March 2012 to March 2015. He and his wife Sarah live in Montreat with their three children and two dogs.
This year’s primary election will be held on May 8, with early voting beginning on Thursday, April 19.
