#BanZan: Ms. Bunn and the Cleveland Coup that couldn’t get off the ground
The coup in Turkey apparently went toes up. And so it seems did the woeful
#NeverTrump exercise at the RNC in Cleveland:
On Saturday, MSNBC interviewed Dane Waters of Delegates Unbound, a group trying to get the Republican National Convention to adopt rules that allow delegates to “unbind” themselves from the GOP’s Donald Trump.
Waters said that not unbinding the delegates is “an assault to democracy.”
“The delegates are angry. They are angry, outraged at what happened. What we’re there to do is help them make it clear to the rest of the world that they are outraged, they’re unhappy and they’re angry, unhappy. What happened is an assault to democracy, in my opinion. It flies in the face of everything the Republican party stands for and can’t be allowed to stand,” Waters told MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff.
Hmmm. Making these people vote how their counties and districts and states voted is “an assault on democracy” ????
Then, along came a motion to ensure that state delegations vote in accordance with how their voters voted in the primaries. The photo accompanying this post was taken during the vote on that motion. You can see Zan Bunn remaining seated while the rest of the delegation stands — to the clear astonishment of her fellow delegates. (Staying seated is a NO vote on the matter.)
Madam Bunn, consigliere to Ma Cotten, has been a fixture at the top of the NCGOP for decades. I remember first encountering her during the 1988 presidential campaign when — if my memory serves me correctly — she was president of the NC College Republicans. I was not all that impressed then. (Still not very impressed.) 
When there have been shenanigans by the NCGOPe, Madam Zan has been in the middle. She aided her boss lady, Ma Cotten, in politically shivving former, duly-elected, NCGOP chairman Hasan Harnett.
What shocked people most about Zan’s vote in Cleveland was the sheer hypocrisy. Sources tell me they saw her in the front row at 
Donald Trump’s June 14 rally in Greensboro. My sources tell me she was — to borrow from the late Senator Helms — “grinning like a jackass eating briers” and clapping like a trained seal.
How does one go from publicly fawning over The Donald to trying to screw him over at the RNC?
Of course, Team Trump was not pleased. A number of those folks took to Twitter and granted Ms. Bunn her very own hashtag:
The folks on Twitter are hitting on something. It IS all about power. Zan and the rest of her clique could care less about the success of the party or its ideals. THEY want to be in charge. THEY want people coming to THEM seeking favors.
Hasan Harnett stood for the opposite of THAT — and they shivved him. These people want your money. They want you to vote every election day. But then they want you to GO AWAY.
It seems like Goldwater, Reagan, and Helms were all just a dream.
If this is true and she voted in support to unbind the delegates I will have to thank her cause this was the right thing to try to do and glad this time if true she would have done the right thing
all the Trump supports need to wake up and see what they have done. Even The Donald himself said he is not running for the conservative nomination but the Republican one so all the conservative that are also Republicans need to watch out and wake up for the bait and switch we will be getting during the 4 year term
anyone who just watched The Donald on the 60 minutes can see the Republican party has made a BIG a HUGE mistake if he is the one nominated in Cleveland still not as bad a the Hillary but really really bad

Did you see The Donald on 60 min tonight. We have a choice between horse manure vs cow manure this election. No one in their right mind wants Hillary but Big Hands Donald is almost as bad and this country needs much better

Boy, you sure have some narrow minded readers – previous comments! They should get a life. Trump won the delegates, period. Now on to your point. Thanks for sharing news about Bunn. This confirms my thoughts – she needs to be in control. Didn’t realize she’s been around so long. We really need new blood.
It is Old Joyce that you grassroots types should watch, although you probably should not take your eyes off of Zan either. I have to watch both as I build my own power base.
You see, I intend to be the new Bill Peaslee. Peaslee was the power behind the throne of Bill Cobey and his successors when they created what is now known as the party establishment. Peaselee was the godfather of that establishment from the time he recruited Cobey to run for chairman, from what I am told. Peaslee pretty much ran the party until one of Cobey’s annointed successors finally kicked him out of headquarters. I intend to avoid that mistake. Peaslee is my role model.
Now the thing to watch about Zan is that from what I have learned about my hero Peaslee, Zan was his longtime girlfriend back in the day. That gave her a taste of how Peaslee wielded the real power in the party from the backroom. But the reality is that I can beat her at that game, and so can even Old Joyce.
It’s over never trumpers. You lost. Take your toys and go home. Donald is the nominee.
Yea he will be the nominee but is this really something to celebrate. It is a very sad week for the Republican party if we cannot present America someone better than Big Hand Donald.
I do not seek how any rational person could have watched him on 60 minutes last night and say we got to have this guy run America.
I have been celebrating for the entire year he has been running. More excited than ever, EVER.
She did the right thing and should be commended, but it’s so much easier to cry hypocrisy and draw the knives.
I am sick and tired of Zan’s elitism. I have found out that it’s always Zan’s way or no way. She is always the expert on every issue. I think she associates more with the Hillary type of politics then democracy. In fact Zan is the 2nd smartest women in the world next to Hillary. Zan in reality you have no friends just convenient allies at the moment.
No, she did the wrong thing! You think your candidate was better and should be the nominee, but he LOST in the Primary. You know, that pesky thing where the grass roots casts a ballot for the one who will represent their party. Trump won, and now you can take your bat and your ball and sit it out on election day and give your support to ensure a Hillary victory! Trump wasn’t my choice, but my choice lost and now I will cast my vote for him. What a sad bunch of losers you turned out to be!

You should follow up on just who the NC Delegates protesting on the floor today were. You may be suprised. And to think, they were sent to represent the voters of NC. They all should be fired!
Concerning that, I’m afraid the fix was in at the ncgop convention. The district delegates were relatively honestly picked but the state delegates were Robin Haye’s picks.
