Dems– STILL the minority — celebrate their Omnibus victory

[…] The Democrats’ victory, and Republican Ryan’s defeat, was garishly displayed when his omnibus got more Democratic votes in the House and in the Senate than it got Republican votes.
“I said I would not accept a lot of [conservative] ideological riders that were attached to a big budget deal,” President Barack Obama said Friday, at his end-of-year press conference. “And because of some terrific negotiations by the Democrats up on Capitol Hill and I think some pretty good work by our legislative staff here… it was a good win,” he said. “We met our goals,” he said.
That’s right. Barry Obama “met [his] goals” as a result of this legislation that passed a REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED CONGRESS. (MORE: )
[…]In 2015, “we wanted to get rid of sequestration, we were able to do that,” gloated the Democrats’ leader in the Senate, Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV). “We wanted to make sure there is parity between defense and the middle class, we wanted to make sure that we kept these poison pills off the legislation… All three goals we had, we accomplished,” he said. Ryan’s omnibus deal “caps off a successful year for Senate Democrats,” he added.
“Well, if you would’ve told me this year that we’d be standing here celebrating the passage of an omnibus bill, with no poison pill riders, at higher [spending] levels above sequesters than even the president requested, I wouldn’t have believed it, but here we are,” Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer told reporters shortly after the $1.1 trillion omnibus bill was passed.
“Almost anything, the Republican leadership in the Senate achieved this year, they achieved on Democratic terms… Democrats had an amazingly good year,” he declared.
“Poison Pill” is a code-name for conservative legislation. So, the REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED Congress gave Obama more money than what he asked for and kept all those *nasty* conservative thingies out of there. MORE:
Over in the House, the Democrats’ upbeat press conference began with laughter, according to the transcript.
(Leader Pelosi. Good morning, everyone. Good morning. I know you’re out there. I see you.

Some of you, for the second time this morning – thank you for coming by. We’re very pleased to say that today, we delivered sweeping victories for hard-working American families. The Omnibus bill makes vital investments that will create jobs, strengthen our future and grow the paychecks of American people… We passed the best possible, under the circumstances, appropriations bill… the Republicans’ obsession with lifting the oil-export ban, they really gave away the store. Democrats were able to strip scores and scores of poison pills, destructive poison pills, some of which they had to have, which they ended up with not having… it is a monumental improvement… But again, we feel very, very good about what it is.… and thank the Speaker for his cooperation.

Amnesty got fully-funded. There is an allowance to admit more Syrian refugees than there are voters in Iowa. Planned Parenthood and its dead-baby-parts wholesale business got fully-funded. And SO DID ObamaCare.
All three of our House Democrats voted FOR THIS. (No surprise, there.) Here are the Republican offenders who voted FOR THIS: Renee Ellmers, Patrick McHenry, Virginia Foxx, David Rouzer, and Robert Pittenger.
Remember this when they come around campaigning about how hard they fought Obama, and how they fought to kill ObamaCare, how shocked they were at those Planned Parenthood videos, and how they stood strong against amnesty. They’re all lying.
In North Carolina, we not only need to defeat the Obama Democrats in Congress, but also the Obama Republicans, who voted along with Nancy Pelosi and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz to pass this ghastly Omnibus that funds virtually the entire Obama agenda. The Obama Republicans who need to be defeated are – Renee Ellmers, VIrginia Foxx, Robert Pittenger, David Rouzer, and Patrick McHenry. If we are not in their districts, we need to send contributions to Jim Duncan and Pattie Curran who are opposing Ellmers and Foxx in the primaries. Pittenger has a primary, but it is still unclear if others may get in or how solid his challenger is. Rouzer and McHenry still need primaries. Hopefully they will get them on Monday.
In the Senate Obama Republican Richard ”Tricky Dick” Burr voted for cloture on the Omnibus, the key vote, although he tried to cover his tracks by voting against it on the final vote. We also need to take down Obama Republican Burr and replace him with either Larry Holmquist or Judge Paul Wright, both of which conservatives are opposing him in the primary.
In an email today, the Club for Growth has commented that they have discovered another evil funded in the Omnibus, Obama’s promise to the UN that the US taxpayer fund their green slush fund, initially to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars a year. It is just days since Mitch McConnell was beating his chest about how bad this was and claiming he was going to fight it. What a phony! We have too many Republicans in Washington who function like Democrats and that needs to change fast.
Ted Cruz was spot on when he called Mitch McConnell the most effective Senate leader the Democrats ever had. McConnell is working for the wrong side, and so are his alllies like Richard Burr and Thom Tillis. Conservatives need to work hard in the primaries to change things in DC.
All that slush and pork and they still make a lot of disabled veterans pay tax on their disability payments from the VA. Nice job Tillis and Burr.

My disgust for Richard Burr and his ilk in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House grows stronger every day. Every “Republican” in Congress who voted for this shameful omnibus bill needs to be voted out of office ASAP. Can’t they see the damage they’re doing to our country–or don’t they care? I fear it’s the latter.
I promise every conservative in North Carolina that I will wage a tireless and vigorous campaign against this aloof, “phony conservative” who does little more than warm a seat in the U.S. Senate. Our state deserves–and will get–better. PLEASE help me “retire” Richard Burr before he does even more damage to our great nation!

It looks like the Political Ruling Class and Oligarchs got everything they wanted.
As an example from a patriot legislator I once served with in Raleigh. It’s like the Carolina basketball team visiting Duke and Carolina scoring all the points for Duke to help them win the game. It’s a bummer to see your team work to help the opposing team win.
Until the reality sinks in that there is no longer an opposition party, but rather that we have the Political Ruling Class -vs- US, We The People, this sort of thing will continue.
Maybe – just maybe – this irresponsible idiocy will motivate more REAL Americans to go to the polls and VOTE in 2016 than EVER BEFORE to REMOVE the “DEM-LITE” crowd from OUR Congress and OUR Legislature at EVERY OPPORTUNITY… up and down the ballot. Just imagine the landslides we could have if only 20% more voters showed up at the polls than usual. There is PLENTY of room for that much growth!!!
And I’m betting most ALL of them would be ANGRY VOTERS, i.e. CONSERVATIVES… people who want REAL CHANGE.
I think it is a huge motivation for those backing Trump. Without the idiocy of Boehner, Ryan, and McConnell backing Obama policy, the Trump wave would never have arisen. Those three stooges have created Trump with their duplicity to GOP voters..
By putting the other primaries with the presidential primary, I hope that all those who turn out for the insurgent presidential candidates – Trump, Cruz, and Carson, take their revulsion to business as usual down ballot and clean out the Obama Republicans at all levels.
The other side of the coin is that if the GOP nominates an establishment presidential nominee, like Bush, Rubio, Christie, or Kassich, then expect a lot of the GOP base to stay home in November in utter disgust.
We green progressives, and all the Polar Bears, wish to thank Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and your North Carolinians Thom Tillis, RIchard Burr, Renee Ellmers, Virginia Foxx, Robert Pittenger, David Rouzer, and Patrick McHenry, for funding President Obama’s green agenda. Thanks to them, wind and solar farms will still be getting taxpayer subsidies that were due to expire and President Obama’s generous pledge to the UN’s Climate Change fund will be paid. EPA will be fully funded, and there will be none of those policy riders to stop the Power Plant rules that will raise the electricity costs of the peons dramatically.
Democrat progressives could never have accomplished this for President Obama, the Polar Bears, and all who believe in the Climate Change theory on our own. It took the help of those progressive Republicans to accomplish this victory for the left.

John Rhodes, as anyone who reads DH knows, once politicians get to Washington, their supporters are their last concern. Their first concern is power. It’s no wonder that so many people don’t bother to show up to vote. What’s the point? There are candidates who are posting here in DH who are saying, “Elect me. I really WILL be conservative!” It’s impossible to take them seriously.
I am all in for Duncan, Brannon and Rouzer’s challenger who just announced–Mark Otto. Let the games begin! (And I’m sure the usual Brannon haters will be out asap)
